E-Quality Constructors: Who we are
We are husband and wife, Lee and Nicola Wakeman, also parents to five crazy children! Previously doing business under "Building Us" for 5 years, we have now decided to rebrand and expand. Our new business, E-Quality Constructors, develops on the safe and high quality roofing, carpentry and general building works of our previous company, but with an additional focus on creating equal opportunities for both women and men in Construction.
We want to build a business that we can, one day, pass onto our children. Therefore, reputation and growth is at the forefront of our minds as we develop our long-term business strategy. A key element of our strategy is to be a diverse and inclusive business that encourages women, and other under-represented groups, into Construction. We want to be part of the drive to increase the percentages of women working in the industry, who currently only account for 15% (and a mere 1% of the manual workforce!).
If we can be successful, we can normalise women in Construction for the next generation, for us being our 3 boys and 2 girls.
Lee's background
Lee has been in the Construction industry for over 20 years, specialising in Carpentry and Roofing for the last 15, and supported by a Carpentry NVQ. He has worked on many projects, both residential and commercial, and has built up a solid customer base through his sole trader business "Building Us". Both previous and current companies have been successful due to his honest approach, attention to detail and high standard of quality work. He always establishes and maintains good working relationships with his customers, who appreciate his approachable and polite manner.
nicola's background
Nicola has been a freelance contractor in the Civil Nuclear and Defence industries for 18 years. She is a Senior Project Manager and has delivered multi-million new build and refurbishment schemes for various clients. In addition to holding qualifications with the Association for Project Management she has also obtained a HNC in Civil Engineering, through sponsorship from the Institution for Civil Engineers. Her time in these highly regulated industries has ingrained a high standard of safety and quality in her work, and full appreciation of the importance of good communications in project delivery.
